Solution

Wireless Video Offload

Move onboard video from fleet vehicles to central storage automatically, within a short depot stop.

  • Starts automatically on arrival
  • Many vehicles at once
  • No per-gigabyte data charges
Wireless Video Offload

The problem

A vehicle with four HD cameras produces around 32 GB of video in an eight-hour shift, and more than 48 GB in a twelve-hour shift. A 500-vehicle fleet can generate up to 16 TB every shift.

Pulling that footage by hand takes around nine minutes per vehicle over USB 3.0, which adds up to 15 hours a day across a 100-vehicle fleet. Cellular offload brings recurring data costs and coverage gaps, and depot Wi-Fi slows down when many vehicles return together.

How Anywhere solves it

A compact node on each vehicle connects automatically when it reaches the depot, and fixed nodes around the yard carry the footage to central storage. Traffic is balanced across paths and drop-off points, so vehicles returning at the same time do not create a bottleneck.

Key capabilities

  • Automatic connection on arrival, with no driver or technician action
  • Simultaneous transfer from multiple vehicles, with load balancing across the depot
  • Video protected in transit with AES-128 on the wireless link and AES-256 end to end
  • Rugged vehicle nodes: PoE powered and IP67 rated
  • Central monitoring of the network through Anywhere Node Manager
  • No licensed spectrum and no recurring operator charges

Frequently asked questions

How much video does a fleet vehicle produce?

It depends on cameras, bitrate and shift length. As a guide, four HD cameras produce around 32 GB in an eight-hour shift. Use the calculator on this site to estimate the figures for your fleet.

Why not offload over 4G or 5G?

Cellular offload charges by volume and depends on network coverage and congestion. A private wireless offload network is owned by the operator, so there are no per-gigabyte charges for moving footage at the depot.

What happens when several vehicles return at once?

Fixed depot nodes distribute traffic across multiple paths and drop-off points, so capacity can be planned around peak return times rather than a single access point.
